End of Term Letter

Dear Parents/Carers,

The end of a long and busy term is approaching and I wanted to take the opportunity to write and thank you for your support.

Your children have really made the most of this first term both in and outside of the classroom.

At the time of reading this letter, our Year 11s will just be coming to the end of their mock examinations, and I have to say they are tired and will definitely need some rest over Christmas!  Their approach has largely been excellent and this bodes well for next summer’s GCSE exams.

All other year groups have been doing well and it was good to talk to some of you at the recent Y9 Parents’ evenings, and to discuss the progress your children are making.  I look forward to talking to many more of you in the New Year at subsequent parents’ evenings and events.

Some of the highlights of the term include the wonderful production of ‘Journey’s End’ back in November.  The cast comprised just 11 pupils from Years 10 and 11, but they put on a truly captivating and authentic presentation of R C Sherriff’s World War I play.  I was in awe of their ability to learn and deliver so many lines!  The great news is, if you didn’t get to see it first time around, the other cast is performing the play on the 28^th and 29^th January, so do come along and support them.

Congratulations to our U15 football team who were recently crowned County Champions after a tight and competitive final against Whitecross where they eventually ran out 2 v 1 winners.  This is a great achievement for the team and thoroughly deserved.

Last week we held our annual Advent Fayre and it was wonderful to see so many of you come and support it.  To raise in excess of £4,000 is quite an achievement and this will benefit our school and all of the children enormously.  Thanks to the PTFA and to all of you who donated or contributed in any way.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Roberts who leaves us at the end of this week, for all that she has done both for PE and in her role as Head of Year.  She will be greatly missed and we wish her every success for the future.

With the term coming to a close, may I remind you that we have an early finish on Friday, 20^th December at 1.30pm and that we are holding our Carol Service the evening of 19^th December at 7pm with live introductory music starting at 6.40pm, I hope you can join with us in celebrating Christmas and the end of term.
