GCSE Results 2022
Students and staff at St Mary’s RC High School are celebrating today after achieving a set of very impressive GCSE grades. In key accountability measures, 86% of students gained standard passes (Grade 4+) in both English and Maths with 66% of students achieving strong passes (Grade 5+) in both of these core subjects. There were also some exceptional individual performances amongst the students at the school with Imogen Cockcroft , Angel Rose Tomy, Thomas Kennedy and Abigail Binso all having a Grade 9 as their average. Many more of the school’s students achieved a host of top grades with 20% securing the highest grades 7-9 in both Maths and English.
“What makes these results so pleasing, is the fact that they were achieved during such challenging circumstances and times”, said Headteacher Stuart Wetson. “We have been so impressed by the resilience and determination shown by our students who have coped admirably with all of the interruptions to learning and different ways of working throughout the pandemic. I am so proud of them, and sincerely hope that they will progress to the next steps in education and training, well equipped and full of optimism for the bright future that lies ahead of them. This group of young people are a credit to themselves, their families and St Mary’s. I would also like to thank our team of dedicated staff who have worked so tirelessly and professionally to support our students and prepare them for the first examinations since 2019.”
