GCSE Results 2023
Pupils and staff at St Mary’s RC High School are celebrating another very strong set of GCSE results this year. In key accountability measures, 78% of pupils gained standard passes (Grade 4+) in English and Maths with 53% of the year group achieving strong passes (Grade 5+) in both of these core subjects.
There were also some exceptional individual performances amongst the pupils, with Julia Janusz gaining an impressive nine Grade 9’s and Madeleine Evans, Jago Frost and Ben Hawkyard all achieving eight Grade 9’s across their various subjects.
Headteacher Stuart Wetson paid tribute to the excellent performance of the pupils and the support of the staff at the school: “These results reflect the hard work and dedication of the pupils within the year group and the unwavering support of our talented and committed staff team. There has been a lot of national media coverage about more challenging grade boundaries and a return to pre-pandemic levels, so to hit these heights and standards is very encouraging indeed. I am so proud of our pupils and want to wish them every success for their next steps and the future”
