At the time of writing, we are just about to embark on the 2023 Junior Eisteddfod with the senior event on Monday. We all look forward to this at St Mary’s and I’m sure it will be the usual mixture of fun, variety and entertainment.
At this time of year we say goodbye to a number of staff who are either retiring after substantial service to teaching or moving on the pastures new:
- Lewis Carter, Head of History
- Sarah Crowley, Teacher of Food Technology
- Ros Evans, Personnel Officer
We also welcome and look forward to working with:
- Luke Williams, Head of History
- Joy Lavis, Teacher of Food Technology
- Elliot Taylor, Teacher of Mathematics (Maternity Cover)
In consultation with the governing body I have also recently been re-structuring my Senior Leadership Team and am pleased to outline the following together with their key responsibilities
Mrs A Leslie: Deputy Headteacher, (DSL/Safeguarding Lead)
Mr S Warde: Assistant Headteacher, (Teaching, Learning & Assessment)
Mr A Giampalma: Assistant Headteacher, (Curriculum Design & Planning)
Mr A Cassidy: Assistant Headteacher, (KS3 Provision & Assessment)
Mrs V Avery: Assistant Headteacher, (Behaviour & Attitudes)
Obviously as the school’s Senior Leadership team our roles and responsibilities overlap but the titles/responsibilities above should give you an indication as to who to contact should you have a specific query/concern.
From September onwards the Head of Year team will be as follows:
Mrs Walton Head of Year 7 MWalton@st-maryshigh.hereford.sch.uk
Mr Coyne Head of Year 8 DCoyne@st-maryshigh.hereford.sch.uk
Miss Deegan Head of Year 9 EDeegan@st-maryshigh.hereford.sch.uk
Mrs Avery Head of Year 10 VLAvery@st-maryshigh.hereford.sch.uk
Mrs Criasia Head of Year 11 LCriasia@st-maryshigh.hereford.sch.uk
Should you have any queries or concerns about your child in September, please contact their form tutor in the first instance who will assist you.
Over the summer break we are carrying out works to widen the school driveway which will hopefully improve access and ease congestion. We are also having some much needed refurbishment of the changing rooms.
I look forward to celebrating the end of term with whole school mass on Tuesday and I would like to remind you that school will finish at 1.15pm on Tuesday 25th July. May I also remind you that term starts for all pupils on Wednesday 6th September, and please note the new timings of the school day, 8.55am start and 3.25pm finish.
Wishing you a relaxing and enjoyable summer break and thank you for your continued support.
Yours faithfully
Stuart Wetson
Headteacher
